Terms of use
This translation is provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the Portuguese version prevails.
- The diagrams you create are yours.
- On the Free plan, your project is kept in your account, in the cloud, with autosave, and you can reopen it. Free does not download .archlens files.
- By using the Free plan, you consent to the projects saved in the cloud being used in studies, in improvements to ArchLens and, eventually, to train AI. They are not transferred to third parties. There is no AI training today. Projects on Pro and above, and files opened in read-only mode, are not used.
- Files opened in read-only mode are converted in memory, without being written to the database or to logs.
- Pro paid by Pix before we start recurring billing gives lifetime access, with no subscription.
- If ArchLens shuts down, we give 30 days' notice, keep access open for you to download your projects and refund proportionally what was paid and not used.
- You can ask for your account and your projects to be deleted at any time. The details about your data are in the privacy policy.
1. Who we are and what ArchLens is
ArchLens is an online tool for drawing and analyzing software architectures, available at studio.archlens.cloud. It is maintained by Paulo Duarte, whom you can contact at contato@archlens.cloud about anything in these terms, including your data.
By signing in to ArchLens, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
2. Account and access
- To use ArchLens you sign in with your GitHub account or with e-mail and password. When signing up by e-mail, the account is only activated after you confirm the e-mail through the link we send.
- If your GitHub account's e-mail is the same as an account created with e-mail and password, both ways of signing in give access to the same account.
- To open a project someone shared with you, you need an account, at least on the Free plan.
- You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for what is done with it.
- Account information must be truthful, and each account belongs to one person.
3. Plans
ArchLens has the Free, Pro (formerly Basic), Team and Enterprise plans. What each plan includes, its price and how to pay are those shown on the app's plans screen at the time of purchase. The following rules apply:
- Free: free of charge and released immediately. You create up to 3 projects, kept in your account (anyone who already had more projects before this rule keeps them all). It includes the editor, the architecture cost, the AI prompt and PNG image export with the ArchLens watermark, with every icon in the catalog, and sharing by read-only link, with 1 active link per project. It does not download or save .archlens files. .archlens files and other people's projects open in read-only mode (see section 4).
- Pro: unlimited projects, kept in the cloud or only on your computer, your choice for each project, and sharing by file or by several read-only links, seeing who entered through each one. Until we start recurring billing, Pro is paid once, for the amount shown on the plans screen, by Pix: after paying, you send the receipt through WhatsApp and the account is released manually by the administrator as soon as the payment is checked. While the payment is not checked, anyone already on Free stays on Free.
- Lifetime access: whoever pays for Pro by Pix before we start recurring billing, and whoever had already paid for the former Basic, never pays a Pro subscription. Access lasts as long as ArchLens exists; shutting down the service follows section 10.
- Team and Enterprise: not available yet. You can join the waiting list, with no commitment.
- Moving to a lower plan: projects created on the previous plan stay in your account, in read-only mode.
- The icons in the catalog may change. A component with an icon that left the catalog stays in the diagram.
- Features marked as "coming soon" are not part of the plan until they are released.
- When buying online, you can withdraw within 7 days of the purchase and get your money back, as provided by the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code (art. 49). To do so, write to comercial@archlens.cloud.
4. Your projects
Everything you draw in ArchLens (components, connections, resources, notes and project information) is yours. We claim no rights over the content of your diagrams.
- On the Free plan: the project is kept in your account, in the cloud. Every minute in which the diagram changed, it is saved automatically, and you can reopen it from the Project Explorer. By using it, you consent to the use of projects described in section 6.
- On Pro and above: for each project, you choose between keeping it in your account (private cloud) or only on your computer, in an .archlens file. A project kept only on your computer is never sent to be stored on the server. You can delete the cloud copy whenever you want.
- Author in the file: the .archlens file records the identifier of the account that created the project (a code, not your name or e-mail) and the date it was last saved.
- Read-only mode: someone else's project (an .archlens file or a shared link) may open in read-only mode: you see, explore and simulate the diagram, but don't change or save it. For that, the file is converted on the server, in memory, without being written to the database, to the history of opened files, to telemetry or to logs. A project opened in read-only mode is never stored in your account or used for training. To measure the product, we only count that a read-only opening happened, with its origin (file or link) and the project's identifier, never the file name or the content (section 7).
- Projects kept in your account stay there as long as the account exists. When the account is deleted, they are deleted with it. On any plan, you can delete your projects from the cloud whenever you want.
Don't put passwords, access keys, third parties' personal data or information you are not allowed to share in your diagrams.
5. Sharing
- By file (Pro): you save the .archlens stating whether the recipient may edit or only read it. This setting is a convention that ArchLens respects, not access control: whoever needs real control should share through the cloud.
- By link: a read-only link to a project kept in the cloud. Whoever opens the link must be signed in and gets read access to the project, recorded in a list that, on Pro and above, you can check and remove people from. Revoking the link removes the access of whoever came in through it. On Free, each project has 1 active link.
- A Free user never edits other people's projects: they always open in read-only mode.
- Whoever shares is responsible for the project's content and for being allowed to share it.
6. Use of Free projects
- By using the Free plan, you consent to the projects saved in the cloud being used by ArchLens in studies, in improvements to the tool and, eventually, to train artificial intelligence. This consent is part of these terms, and no other authorization is asked for. If you do not agree, do not use the Free plan.
- Your projects are not transferred to third parties. We do not sell them or pass them on to other companies. The infrastructure providers in section 7 only store them for us.
- There is no AI training today: no project is used for it. If that changes, we update these terms first.
- This use applies only to projects created on the Free plan, while the account is on Free. Projects on Pro and above, and projects opened in read-only mode, are not used.
- To end this use, delete the project, move to Pro or above, or ask for your account and projects to be deleted through the contact e-mail (section 7).
7. Privacy policy
The data controller is Paulo Duarte, who answers any privacy matter at contato@archlens.cloud. We store:
- Account data: name, e-mail and, if you sign in with GitHub, the identifier, the login and the profile picture. If you sign in with e-mail and password, the password is stored only in encrypted form (hash), never as text. We also store whether the e-mail was confirmed and whether a message to it could not be delivered.
- Plan and account status, the dates of creation, release and last access, the version of these terms you accepted, with the date and, if you gave or revoked the former authorization for training, the dates on which you did so.
- Pro plan: the request code, the amount, the dates and the WhatsApp number you provide to be told about the release. The Pix receipt stays only in the WhatsApp conversation, not in ArchLens.
- Team and Enterprise waiting list: the phone number, the message, the type of use and, if you provide it, how much you would pay per month.
- App preferences (theme, language and display options), so they apply in any browser.
- Projects kept in the account and, for projects shared by link, who has access to them, as described in sections 4 and 5.
- Files opened for editing: when you open an .archlens file to edit it, we record the file name, the project name and the date, but not the content. Files opened in read-only mode are not added to this history.
- Product usage: some actions in the editor (opening a project in read-only mode, clicking Duplicate to edit or New project at the Free limit, opening the plans screen and why, creating a share link), with the account, the date and, when there is one, the project's identifier, never the project's name or content. They measure how many people change plans and how often shared projects are opened.
- Feedback: when you send a rating, a suggestion or a problem report from the app, we keep the message, the rating (if any), the app version and the screen you were on, linked to your account, never the diagram's content. The administrators get an e-mail notice with this data.
- Technical data: the IP address of each request is used, only in the server's memory and for a short time, to limit login and sign-up attempts. The administrator's actions on accounts (release, reject, suspend, change plan) are recorded.
- In your browser: the access token and the preferences are kept in the browser's local storage (on Pro and above, also the project being edited), and a temporary cookie is used during GitHub sign-in.
What we use it for and on what legal basis (Brazilian LGPD, art. 7):
- Account, plan, payment, projects and sharing: to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract).
- WhatsApp and waiting list: to talk to you about the release and about Team and Enterprise, because you provided them for that (consent). You can ask us to delete them at any time.
- Free projects saved in the cloud, in studies, improvements and, eventually, AI training: with your consent, given by using the Free plan (section 6). They are not transferred to third parties.
- Access records and attempt limits: to protect the service and the accounts (legitimate interest).
- Product usage: to understand how ArchLens is used and improve it (legitimate interest).
- Feedback: to understand what you reported, fix problems and decide ArchLens' next improvements (legitimate interest).
Who we share it with: the data is kept on Microsoft Azure (hosting and e-mail sending) and Neon (PostgreSQL database) servers, in the São Paulo region. GitHub sign-in is done by GitHub itself, and the receipt conversation by WhatsApp (Meta). We don't sell or share data with other companies.
For how long: account data, projects and preferences are kept as long as the account exists. Rejected or cancelled access requests are deleted 90 days later, and links sent by e-mail, 7 days after being used or expiring. A waiting list entry is kept until the plan is launched or until you ask to leave. The feedback you sent is kept as long as the account exists and is deleted along with it.
Your rights: through the contact e-mail, you can ask for a copy of your data, its correction, portability or the deletion of your account and projects, as guaranteed by the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Law 13,709/2018).
Security: passwords only as hashes, access secrets kept out of the code, encrypted connections and database backups.
8. Acceptable use and commercial use
It is not allowed to:
- use ArchLens to break the law or other people's rights;
- try to access accounts, projects or data that are not yours;
- overload, attack or try to get around the service's limits and protections;
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the app's code or the format of .archlens files;
- resell or redistribute the service without authorization.
Commercial use means using ArchLens to create or edit projects as part of paid work or for a company. Viewing, in read-only mode, a project someone else shared with you is not commercial use, on any plan.
If these terms are broken, the account may be suspended or closed. Whenever possible, we let you know beforehand through the account's e-mail.
9. Availability and liability
- ArchLens is provided as is. We work to keep it online and working well, but there may be interruptions, failures and changes in features.
- ArchLens' analyses (such as throughput, load and alert states) help discuss the architecture, but don't replace tests, measurements or the judgment of whoever designs the system. Decisions made based on them belong to whoever makes them.
- Keep a copy of important projects. We are not responsible for losses caused by failures of the browser, the computer or the service, except where the law does not allow this limitation.
10. Shutting down the service
If ArchLens shuts down:
- we notify all users, through the account's e-mail and in the app, at least 30 days in advance;
- during that period, we open temporary read-only access for you to download the images of your projects, including on the Free plan;
- we send to each account's e-mail links to download your projects as PDF;
- we refund proportionally the amount paid for the period not yet used.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may change. The version and date at the top of the page show the version in force. When the change is relevant, we will let you know in the app or by e-mail before it takes effect, and the app asks for a new acceptance.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. The courts of the domicile of whoever uses the service are chosen to settle any matter related to them.
